dumb idea, dumb day, dumb dumb dumb were the thoughts going through young miss Annabella Delaney's head as her feet made quick pace across the worn cement that was the side walk. It was obvious as her green eye gazed at the ground that the side walk had seen many days. She sighed a little bit, pausing to stare at a dent in the cement, it probably has more memories then I do, she thought to herself. She breathed in deeply and lifted her gaze, catching sight of the coffee shop that she stood right in front of. As she gazed through the large window she could see a few elderly folk staring out at her with puzzled expressions. They probably think you're crazy, she sighed and moved towards the door, ignoring the confused gazes.
The cool spring air vanished as she entered the warm cafe like coffee shop. It was nice inside, there were chairs and couches and tables set up in a tidy fashion. It was a cozy place, one that she could see herself spending lots of time in. She was sure that she'd visit this place a million times before she left town. Here almost everyday, she was sure of it. Not only because it was cute and cozy and a nice place to curl up in a cushy chair with a good book but also because she had a bit of a caffeine addiction and this was probably the only coffee shop in town.
Bella moved towards the front counter, her green eyed gaze on the board the whole time, taking in their pricing for everything. They charged decently. About the same as Starbucks. She just hoped that they could make coffee as good as Starbucks. She stepped to the counter and offered a pleasant smile to the young man behind it, showing off her perfect white teeth. Two years of braces had paid off. She shifted her weight, "I'll do a triple 16oz vanilla breve, please" she said pleasantly, the order rolling off her tongue with grace. It was far to obvious that she was no foreigner to this drink. The boy nodded with out a word and plugged the order into the register. Talkative one she thought to herself as she reached into the pocket of her tight fitting jeans, pulling out a five dollar bill. It was lucky. She'd brought just enough.
After paying and receiving her drink she wandered to an over sized chair and settled herself into it. She kicked off black flip flops and pulled her feet up onto the chair, curling herself into something ball like. She brought the cup to her lips and took a sip of the hot liquid "mmm" she murmured to herself, her eyes closing. This was just what she needed. Sure, she'd come here with no job set up, no place to live set up, nothing basically. All to get away from her parents and the skeletons in her closet. Sure she had no place to stay tonight other then her car. But right now, in this moment, she was fine because she had a nice place to sit and warm coffee to sip.

Well bloody fucking hell. The screeching honk of a horn faded quickly as the car continued past him. He felt the rush of it, buffeting his pant legs. "What happened to right of fucking way?" He grumbled to himself, making it safely across the second half of the street and glaring after the receding blue Honda. Rolling his shoulders, which were clad in a dark navy hoody, the young man tucked his hands in his denim pockets, beginning to walk.
What he was looking for popped up within about twenty paces. Breakfast. Mouth watering, he swung open the door to the little cafe, heading straight to the glass display where the snacks were kept. Hm. Chocolate fudge cake at - here he checked his phone - ten in the morning? Sounded good. He told the meek boy behind the counter his order, fishing a few coins out of his wallet to pay and turning around. Did he really wanna go back to his parked car and eat there? Sorry, but that'd be pretty sad. Instead, he scanned the faces of his imminent breakfast mates.
Huh. Looks like he had a choice between several OAPs, a young woman and her baby who seemed to be spitting up something rather nasty looking, or a girl that looked more his age. Baby barf, no thanks. And he didn't want the conversation to literally die on him... some of those elderly women looked about 300 years old.
The girl was no doubt attractive, and didn't look like she had any strings attached (namely baby vomit or liver disease). Benny flopped down easily in one of the oversized armchairs, that seemed a bit more beanbag than chair, really. He wasn't disturbingly near to her of course, but close enough to get a good conversation going, if she would oblige. The fished into the paper bag he'd been given, taking a nibble of his cake. His blue green eyes snuck a glance at her, and one hand brushed his dark bangs momentarily away from them. She had the same sort of expression on her face as he'd had a couple months back. New fish in the puddle. "You know, those never really taste that great when that guy makes them." He drawled.
His eyes were round with feigned seriousness. To be honest he had no friggin' idea who that kid behind the counter was. "I'm Ben, by the way. Ben King." He would've offered her his hand but... well he was a guy eating cake for breakfast. Any hope for formality was lost a long time ago.
{ooc: Sorry this is so awkward and weird. Not feeling my best today.}

Green eyes stared straight ahead, not at anything particular, more just for the sake of staring. She sighed hesitantly, working out in her mind what she was going to do. She'd resigned herself to the fact that she would indeed be sleeping in her car tonight. On night in the back seat of her car wouldn't kill her. Besides, this place wasn't like New York. It wasn't as if someone were going to break in and rape her before brutally murdering her and disposing of her corpse. She shuddered, Stop it. You're being silly. Silly really ought to have been her middle name, along with dramatic, ridiculous, pathetic, a number of words really.
"Oh good god" she screeched, jumping slightly in her chair as the boy's words intruded her thoughts. She whipped her head to the side, gazing at him through wild clear eyes. It was obvious she was the jumpy sort. The sort that had been through more then they were willing to share. She relaxed into her chair again, her expression softening as a bit of a smile came to her face. She chuckled quietly in the back of her throat "Sorry, you just, you frightened me" she said politely with a small shake of her head, You really ought to stop being so jumpy!
Bella hadn't exactly heard what the young man had said but as he glanced back towards the man behind the counter she figured it must have something to do with him. She smiled pleasantly, pretending as if she heard every word, she even nodded a bit to back up that she had indeed heard him even though she hadn't heard him at all. I'm Ben, by the way. Ben King. Her small smile spread into a grin that showed off her perfect white teeth, her first acquaintance in this new place. She was a bit excited over the matter. She extended a hand, always the polite one but after he realized he was munching away at cake she withdrew her hand, "I'm Bella." She introduced herself by her nickname, not bothering with last names. Who was he that he needed to know her entire name? They'd only just met.
The far too skinny woman shifted her weight in her seat, readjusting her hold in her cup. Her eyes remained on the young man to be sure she didn't miss anything else he said. She had a habit of zoning out if not completely focused on the current subject of focus. She raised her cup to her lips, taking another sip of the hot hot liquid.

The young woman's screech startled him. Holy crap. He certainly hoped she'd ordered decaf, because it sure didn't look like she needed anymore energy than she already had. The young man took another bite of cake, keeping an eye on the jumpy girl. "Sorry, you just, you frightened me." Apparently.
Bella. All right, they were getting somewhere. This town, as she had probably noticed, was tiny. In fact, most of the people in the coffee shop he'd seen around at one point or another. The woman with the baby was certainly a daily obstacle, taking up the whole sidewalk with her stroller. This girl, however, was new and he could tell. Peering into the paper back at his cake, which he was convinced was disappearing all too quickly, he spoke again, drawling in that Australian accent of his. "So... what's the deal, are you just driving through or are you here for a while?"
Aww, he remembered his first day in this one horse town. He'd ended up sleeping in his pickup. Not the most comfortable of nights, he had to admit. He'd thanked his good sense that he'd left Jinx behind for a month or so until he'd found a place for her to stay and gotten himself a job and all. Everything would have been twice as stressful with a horse to deal with. "Not being a creep or anything," he assured her. "But I'm sure you can work out that not a whole lot of new people come through here."
It had been rather routine for him, to be honest. He hadn't known a soul in the town, but that was never really a problem for Ben. Within a few days he'd found someone who had a free room for him. The rent was reasonable, and the guy, if ten or so years older, was pretty fun. After about a week he'd found a place for Jinxy, and had called some friends who were coming down his way in a few weeks, asking them to bring her along. It was a nice fenced pasture, about a ten minute walk from his place. It had a run in shelter for her and its only other occupants were a couple of donkeys that the owner kept as pets. Before long he'd landed a job as a groom in a prestigious racing stable, his horse was with him again, and bam, things were going good.
Benny supposed this Bella was bound in some other direction. Maybe she'd been driving all night, hopped up on caffeine the whole time, and that's why she was jumpy. Most people didn't stop in Kadin for more than a night or so, he'd come to learn. Still, company was company, and on this cloudy spring morning, it was kinda nice to just sit and talk. He left a large lump of cake in the paper bag and rolled it up, holding on to it. Jinx was a big fan of chocolate, she'd appreciate it. For about two seconds, then she'd complain that he hadn't brought more.

So... what's the deal, are you just driving through or are you here for a while?
Bella shrugged innocently, looking away from him for a minute. Her eyes fell onto the black lid of her cup, focusing in on a drop of flavored half and half that rested on top. She wasn't exactly sure what to tell him. It had made so much sense in her head when she'd climbed into her car just a few nights ago. She'd heard of this place again and again in the world she'd grown up in; The racing world. Her father's horses had raced against the talented horses that belonged to the two top barns in this small town and almost always they'd lost against them. Coming here was a way to spite her father. If he wouldn't let her train to be a jockey for him then she'd be a jockey for someone else. Someone better. It all seemed a little silly though especially when it came down to telling complete strangers.
A quiet sigh followed her thinking and she turned her head towards him again, she smiled. She offered another shrug "I'm planning on being around for a while" she said quietly. If all else failed she'd be perfectly content cleaning stalls for a while. She refused though to let that become her existence. She was here to be a jockey and if it didn't look like that was going to happen then she'd go somewhere else. It was easy as that. She half smiled, more a stressed smile then anything else "Just need to find myself a place to stay" she murmured, more to herself then to the young man across from her.
For the first time Bella decided to take in the figure across from her. He was actually rather handsome, not someone she expected to see in these parts. He was more the sort that you'd find on Hollywood Boulevard. Perfect blue eyes. Hair that was probably not styled at all but somehow managed to look incredibly sexy. Yes, he was the boy that you saw on the big movie screen. The one that you had dreams about and pouted when you woke up. The one that you hung pictures of on your wall that you kissed before bed every night. She half smiled at her train of thought, stop being so silly. She looked away quickly before she could be caught staring, her eyes dropping back to the half and half on the lid of her cup.

{ooc: Sorry for the slow reply, I was out last night. =)}
"I'm planning on being around for a while." Huh. The way she said it made him think she wasn't really 100% pleased with this idea. Maybe she was running away from something. To him, Kadin seemed like a bit of an escape town. Nobody would know you here, and everyone seemed happy enough to accept you and be friendly until you gave them a reason not to. Plus, look at the place. Nobody would ever think to come looking in a tiny Southern town. Was Benny running away? He'd wondered for a minute, but really, he was just trying to get back. It looked like it was going to be hard though.
"Just need to find myself a place to stay." She said it softly, quietly, but Benny cracked a grin, stretching his arms behind his head. "Ugh, I hear you. Spent my first week in my car." He paused suddenly, thinking. Greg, that roomie of his, was going on a business trip for a week. In fact, he'd just left that morning when Benny said goodbye and gone off to find breakfast. Oh right, he needed to buy groceries.
Back on track, Ben. The aussie looked at Bella closely. She didn't look like the sort who was going to either viciously murder him in his sleep or steal all of his belongings, and he was sure Greg wouldn't mind. "Hey, don't want to be pushy or anything," he began in that alluring accent of his. "But I've got a free room at the moment." He offered her a grin. "Got pretty sore sleeping in that truck, I wouldn't want anyone to have to go through the same."
Shrugging, he rested his head against the back of the chair, watching her. "If you've got nowhere else it wouldn't be any trouble at all." Oh, he had already convinced himself she'd think he was a bit of a creep, but that was ok. It's not like they'd be living absolutely side-by-side. Greg's room had it's own bathroom and everything, and he'd be busy with work and Jinx a lot of the time.
It could be fun though, right? He sort of missed joking around with others his own age. Most of the staff at Glenwood were older than him, although he was on good terms with them all. There was one exercise rider, a tiny little guy, who was a lot of fun though, but Benny didn't always have a lot of time to hang out with him.
Again he shrugged, meeting the vivid green of the girl's eyes. "Just a thought."
